Artist statement
A single lyric from a song. An overheard conversation on a NY subway. A sermon on a Sunday morning. An unhinged rambling on a downtown street corner. A question from a 7-year old child. A sentence in a book written 100 years ago.
The trigger is unpredictable, but all of these things can set an idea in motion. After that it becomes reactive. One brush stroke leading to another and another. Finding the flow, talking to the muse. Frustration and laughter. Creating and destroying and creating and destroying over and over again until…a pause and a resolution.
Inhale. Exhale. Done.
Playful, slightly uncomfortable, humorous with a touch of darkness. All born out of the day to day bits of being a human. Flawed and imperfect but trying. Trying to move forward in a positive direction with love in my back pocket…waiting for the next “random” trigger.
